 Custom Handspun Yarn from Your Pet  

Have a keepsake created from your dog or cat

Use the yarn for knitting or crocheting

Simply keep it as a lasting remembrance


 
Save your brushings in a paper bag, cardboard box or pillowcase. Be sure the fur is dry – it doesn’t have to be clean, just free of mats. I recommend providing a minimum of 4 ounces. Some will be lost in the cleaning, carding and spinning process.

Don’t worry – your yarn (or the finished project) will NOT have a doggie smell. That smell comes from the oils on the dog’s skin. The fur will be washed upon arrival and once the yarn is spun, it will be washed again.


Best results come from pet hair at least 1 ½ inches long. Long haired collie and sheepdog breeds, Northern breeds (Husky, Malamute, Eskimo), Golden Retrievers, Bichons, Maltese, German Shepherds, Shi Tzus, Great Pyrenees, Newfoundlands, long haired terriers. The undercoat on double-coated breeds provide the softest spinning material.


Charges are based on the final weight of the yarn. $10 per ounce; minimum order $30. The yarn will be spun and made into 2-ply yarn (unless you request otherwise).


If you don’t knit or crochet and you’d like a keepsake made, I offer these finished items. The cost listed is in addition to spinning fees. Any leftover yarn will be returned to you.
