Alpacas were introduced to the US and Canada from 1984-1998, imported from South America. Alpacas and llamas belong to the Camelid family. Their relatives include guanacos, vicuna, and of course, camels.
Alpacas are shorn yearly and produce between 5-10 pounds of fleece. There are 16 official colors and more than 22 colors produced naturally. We have a wide variety of colors on the farm.
Alpacas are one of the easiest types of livestock to take care of. They are generally healthy animals, birth crias without intervention - and vet bills are cheaper than our dogs!
